Los Angeles kitchen tile remodel
Backsplash, flooring and design choices for a Los Angeles kitchen.
Backsplashes & Kitchen Floors
Backsplashes, range walls and kitchen floors in porcelain, ceramic, glass, mosaic and natural stone, installed by our own crew across Greater Los Angeles.
Details That Show
A kitchen backsplash is a small area with a lot of details: outlets and switches, the edge where tile meets the counter, the ends of the run beside the cabinets and the window, and the range hood. Those cuts and edges are what you look at every day, so we plan them before the first tile goes up.
We start the layout from the most visible point, usually the range or the sink, so the pattern is centered where your eye lands and the small cuts end up in the corners. Outlet boxes get extenders so cover plates sit flat, the joint at the counter gets flexible sealant instead of grout, and exposed edges are finished with a trim or a bullnose that matches the tile.
Kitchen floors are about flat and solid. We check the subfloor, correct it where needed and use the right mortar coverage for the tile size, so large-format porcelain does not crack or click underfoot. All of it is handled in-house by the same team that has been installing tile in Los Angeles since 2008.

What We Install
Our Process
We measure the backsplash or floor, talk through tile, pattern and edges, and send you a written estimate.
Counters, cabinets and appliances are covered, old tile comes out, and walls or subfloor are checked and corrected.
The layout starts from the range or sink, outlets get extenders, and tile is set with the right mortar for its size.
Grout and sealant go in, stone is sealed if needed, and we walk the finished kitchen with you.
Materials
A backsplash takes splashes and grease; a kitchen floor takes traffic and dropped pans. These are the materials we install most often in Los Angeles kitchens.
Easy to clean behind a range and tough on a floor. Ceramic subway and handmade-look tile suit backsplashes; porcelain is the safer pick for floors.
Reflects light on a backsplash and wipes clean. Glass needs a white mortar and careful cuts, since every edge shows through the tile.
Marble and travertine add warmth but stain and etch from oil, wine and citrus. They need sealing and are better on a backsplash than a busy kitchen floor.
Questions
A typical backsplash is a short job, but prep, cure time for the mortar and grout, and details like outlets and window returns add time. Floors take longer because the room is out of use. We give you a schedule with the written estimate.
Not for a backsplash. Tile goes on the wall above the counter and the joint at the counter is sealed. For a floor, it depends on whether the tile runs under the cabinets; we check that at the visit.
Sometimes, if the old tile is flat, well bonded and the extra thickness works with your outlets and trim. Most of the time a clean tear-out gives a better result, and we tell you which applies after we see it.
No. Every installation is handled in-house by our own crew, from prep to the final walkthrough.
It depends on the tile, the pattern, the area and the prep. Our Los Angeles kitchen tile remodel guide and tile installation costs guide explain what moves the price, and we send a written estimate after the visit.
